As far as Italian food is concerned, the majority of us without any Italian heritage at all are limited to naming pizza and pasta as the top two dishes, but not necessarily in that order. If you know a little more then you may stretch to a calzone and some olives, but no matter how good you think Italian food is you have no idea just how good it really tastes until you actually visit it’s motherland yourself! You will never want to go back to Italian culinary delights that are made anywhere else again.

Italy is a fantastic place to visit and is undoubtedly one of the top tourist countries for those liking city breaks and natural beauty. No matter where you go within the country, you will also find food alongside the heritage and scenery. Food is a big part of the Italian culture and they really value their ability to provide delicious foods. From homemade ice cream parlours to amazing family-owned restaurants, you will never run out of new foods and places to eat. A quick look at the menu will reveal a huge choice of dishes and you will most definitely want to work your way through them from start to finish!

Italian food is home grown for the most part. Very few ingredients come from outside of Italy. The olives are grown in fragrant olive groves. The tomatoes, plums and other fruit and vegetables are grown in Southern gardens and the pasta is all made by hand. Therefore, when you sample the food it is Italy at its finest. The delicious blend of tomatoes and olives for pasta sauces, cured meats, tender fish caught in the waters off the coast and melt in the mouth bread… my mouth is watering just thinking about it all! Your taste buds will be so delighted that Italian food will never be the same again.
